View of Downtown Rochester from Kodak Tower

Here    is a neat view I came across while rummaging around in the Local History Department at the Rochester Public Library. The image is of State Street with downtown Rochester in the background, taken from one of the top floors of Kodak tower...

   Although I don't have an exact date for the photo, I would guess it's mid 1930s. The Genesee Valley Trust building (the one with the wings) was built in 1929, surpassing Kodak tower as the tallest in Rochester. Not to be outdone, Eastman Kodak added three more floors to reclaim the distinction in 1935. It's possible this photo was taken after the new addition. The photographer is unknown.

   Here's a closer look towards midtown. The tall building in the background (with the spire) is the Lincoln Alliance Building. To it's right is the Granite Building and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce. To it's left is Hotel Seneca. Sibley's can be seen on the far left.

   Look at all of those buildings and storefronts lining the city's streets. THAT is a place I wish I could visit.
