We all love Rochester but sometimes you just need to get out of town for a day, right? That's why Landmark Society's Young Urban Preservationists and Slow Road Travel are bringing you     Backroads & Byways: Medina

, the first in a series of daytrips to check out the roads less traveled and to explore historic places and exciting projects in small towns throughout the region...

   In the historic Erie Canal village of Medina, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at in-progress building rehabs, a completed loft conversion, and see how Medina's young entrepreneurs are breathing new life into this small community. We'll end the day with live music at a truly unique open-air venue (where you can purchase locally made     mead

).

   Highlights include:     810 Meadworks

(including live music at an amazing historic open air venue behind the former R.H. Newell Shirt Factory), a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing rehab of     Bent's Opera House

and a tour of the     completed conversion of the R.H. Newell Shirt Factory
