This week Eric Mamajek, an astronomer at the University of Rochester discovered an object--either a planet or a failed star--with a ring system 200 times the length of Saturn's. Mamjek's discovery

Farewell Carnegie Place
The Carnegie Building on the University of Rochester's former Prince Street campus was opened in 1911 as the first home of the Engineering School. Early Tuesday morning a massive fire ripped through the building. The roof later collapsed and the owner decided the damage was too great to save the structure. The building was in the middle of a renovation. It has now been torn down

Feel the Power
RG&E has received an award for $16.5 million
from the federal government for improvements at their hydroelectric power plant on the Genesee at Middle Falls. Apparently this is in addition to $111 million already spent recently. Little known fact, the plant powers 31,000 homes, or a little over 10% of all houses in Monroe County.
