This article was scraped from Rochester Subway. This is a blog about Rochester history and urbanism has not been published since 2017. The current owners are now publishing link spam which made me want to preserve this history.. The original article was published May 25, 2011 and can be found here.
Post Your Photos to
Facebook Before June 1.
Given Rochester's status as the "Image City" and our surplus of neglected real estate, I figured photos of Rochester would be raining down on the RocSubway Facebook page by now.
Here's an opportunity to see what your city, town, or neighborhood could look like if given a little time and attention. And all you have to do is post a snapshot and get your Facebook pals to "like" it. RocSubway and Photoshop will do the rest.
If your photo receives the most "likes" by midnight May 31, RocSubway will give it a digital makeover and you'll receive a free 16''x10'' print of Old Rochester City Hall and Subway Entrance .
Still not sure what I mean by "digital makeover"? Here are a few before-and-after examples...
Oh and I really don't want to see a hundred shots of the abandoned subway! Seriously. Here are some better ideas:
- Do you live in a ratty apartment building? Let's give it a makeover.
- Do you own a store or business? Makeover!
- a streetscape (Main Street or East Ridge Road)
- an empty lot
- an old strip mall or row of storefronts
- a rundown house or a warehouse
- an underutilized waterfront (Rochester has plenty)
- a desolate bus stop
- an ugly retaining wall... MAKEOVER!!
Okay, now that you have your assignment and a few ideas, GET OUT THERE and snap that winning shot!
