Two weeks ago the World Canals Conference took Rochester by storm and offered the public a glimpse inside the Broad Street Aqueduct Bridge and abandoned subway tunnel. Thousands attended and many tour-goers shared their great photos on our Facebook page

The City of Rochester, MVP Health Care, CITY Newspaper, Visit Rochester, and a host of community organizations are once again bringing a wide array of river-related activities and events to Rochester as part of 2010 River Romancee
. Running from October 8 through October 10, River Romance this year highlights Rochester's return to the river with a focus on impressive new development along the waterfront. In addition, River Romance will, as always, offer a cornucopia of events and activities focused on the river's ecology and history that will both inform and inspire. All activities and events are free unless otherwise noted in the schedule. River cruises, guided tours of the river and gorge, light & music shows, and parades are just some of the festivities this weekend.
River Romance will kick off on Friday, October 8 at 2 p.m. with an opening ceremony at the El Camino Trail at the corner of Clifford and Conkey Avenues. Mayor Duffy will cut the ribbon with the Genesee Land Trust for a new playground, and the Mayor will announce the weekend's activities. Trails like El Camino are key connections between neighborhoods and waterways.
Historic Aqueduct Tours
What: Volunteers from the Canal Society of New York State will be strategically placed in the Aqueduct to provide history and insights about this unique downtown aqueduct. Also hear about proposals for future redevelopment.
Where: Enter on Broad Street next to Blue Cross Arena
When: Open from 12-3 p.m.
