These 'subway heroes' ain't got nothin on Wanda Dueno. [PHOTO: BuzzFeed.com]

Every so often I like to post true tales of subway heroism...     A boy    who lived in the NYC subway system...     A drunk woman    pulled out of the way of an oncoming train in the Boston "T"...     No pants subway riders    ... uh... hem hem.

Anyway, here comes the story of one woman who truly deserves to be called an underground super hero...

Wanda Dueno and baby Libasse Dueno after the wildest subway ride of their lives.

Wanda Dueno, 24, of Philadelphia was in NYC last Wednesday visiting friends and family. At 1:30 a.m. she was all alone on the J train headed to her sister's home in The Bronx when she realized she was going into labor; five days early.

When her contractions started she hit the emergency intercom button on the wall of the car. But by the time a conductor arrived a few minutes later, it was over. Little 7-pound, 2-ounce Libasse Dueno was born just as the train pulled into the Chambers Street station. From the maternity ward at New York Downtown Hospital Dueno told the     New York Post

, "I was trying to keep him in."

Transit officials temporarily halted service to clean the train.

Jessica Wakeman (of     the Frisky blog

) sums up this story only as another woman could: "First of all, EW. I don't want to breathe inside a subway car, let alone have my vagina touch the surface of one. Second of all, that is completely badass and I am in awe of this woman."

My thoughts exactly. And happy birthday little Libasse!
