Greentopia Film & Little Theatre Present, 'Urbanized', February 2.

This article was scraped from Rochester Subway. This is a blog about Rochester history and urbanism has not been published since 2017. The current owners are now publishing link spam which made me want to preserve this history.. The original article was published January 21, 2012 and can be found here.

'Urbanized' is a documentary film by Gary Hustwit about the design of cities.

The very same people responsible for Rochester's Greentopia Festival are expanding the Greentopia brand this year to include a series of film screenings. My heart skipped a beat when I learned they'll be bringing Gary Hustwit's      Urbanized

to the Little Theatre for a one-night-only event featuring a panel discussion afterwards. I've been waiting for this movie to hit Rochester for months. Now I won't have to travel to someone else's city to see it!

Urbanized    is the third part of Gary Hustwit's design film trilogy, joining      Helvetica

PANELIST: Mike Governale, Interactive Art Director at Partners and Napier.

Mike Governale (that's me) is an Interactive Art Director at Partners and Napier, a Rochester-based and nationally recognized advertising agency. Mike considers public transit central to civic progress and, in 2010, founded Reconnect Rochester, a transit advocacy group, to educate locals about the importance of a robust public transit system. He also serves on the board of directors of Friends of the GardenAerial, a non-profit organization advocating for the conversion of pre-existing structures and trails along the Genesee Gorge at High Falls into a multi-use, extraordinary public green space.
