Be Generous with Your Garden Pt. 2

If you haven't noticed, it's now mid-November, and your garden is probably all generous-ed out (see     Part 1    ). I understand! But don't let that discourage you from helping all the same. Read on to see what you can do to stay involved.

To begin, Gloria is back with a follow-up, a thank you, and what you can do to keep helping. She's also shared a number of fantastic photos from her summer of hard work, and they're all here as well. So without further adieu...

First , I want to say thank you to Leonard Leo, Gillian Kratzer, Karen VanBuren, Moira Rivera, Cilla & Glenn Drinkwater, The Steffan Family, Camman Acres, Katherine Drake, Katy Foley, Kirby Farmers Market, Christopher Grattan, Caurie Putnam Ferguson, Matthew Denker, and Linda Fischer Farnum for helping me so much with my project.

What I ended up doing was taking lots of donations to the Open Door Mission. It was not a very good Summer to grow things, but I got through the with lots of help and sometimes we bought stuff from the farmer's markets.

I am going to keep going with my project. My friend Kay is helping me. Right now we are baking things on the weekends and taking it to the Open Door Mission. We also buy vegetables at the Public Market.

We want to find more people to help, especially kids. My mom is talking to some places about what they need.

I'm really proud of my project and can't wait to see where it goes!

As we discussed in the first article, Gloria has been involved in food donation since she was only three years old, and has been working on the west side of town ever since. This year she even raised $300 for the Brockport food shelf. We remain incredibly excited by her project here at Rochester Subway and are hoping to lend a hand personally. The end of August, when after a pretty dry season we posted a request for donations and people in the area all of the way into the city came through right away. This isn't even all of it.
