In late October I got the opportunity to go check out a place nearby that I had heard rumors about--a house that has been frozen in a state of construction since 2005. I don't really feel comfortable sharing the exact location, but the property is in Fairport, NY, out near     Egypt

on a nice, quiet residential street - surrounded by woods and shrouded in mystery...

There is an older home that was previously built on the property in the early 1960s. The couple who lived here divorced and moved on. [PHOTO: Anonymous]

There is an older home that was previously built on the property in the early 1960s. It was like any other suburban home of that era except that the family who lived there fell on some hard times. The father was getting into illegal drugs and becoming manic. The wife divorced him in the early 1990s and then sold the property in order to move to a safer location.

The next owners used the woodland getaway as a storage facility and nothing more. It deteriorated rapidly. [PHOTO: Anonymous]

The property was put up for sale again in the late 1990s and a new couple bought it with the intention of building something new on the land. Plans made and permits obtained, construction began in 2005. The new modern house would overlook a pond, great woods, and a preserve area.

With a modern new home halfway complete, construction came to a standstill. [PHOTO: Anonymous]

But with the home about halfway complete, construction came to a standstill. Plumbing was part way installed. Electrical boxes were ready to be wired. The building envelope was complete and fully protected from the elements.

And this is the way things look ten years on. [PHOTO: Anonymous]

I'm not exactly sure why things stopped. I have heard rumors of another divorce causing the property to be contested. [PHOTO: Anonymous]

Now these two structures on the same property--although 50 years apart--now face the same questionable fate. [PHOTO: Anonymous]
