$500 ROC Transit Day Treasure Hunt

Last year, as part of     ROC Transit Day

, we planned a city-wide treasure hunt where teams followed a series of clues (for over 19 miles) to be the first to find a $500 cash prize at the end. The only catch: No motor vehicles. All teams were required to use public transit, walk, or bike. (it's in the     rules    !)

This year (Thursday, June 18) we're doing it again. It's completely free to enter, but you must     pre-register here

before June 17. Right now we only have 6 teams signed up, so your odds would be pretty good; as long as you have a good working knowledge of Rochester.

Still not sure if you've got the right stuff? Take a look at the clues from LAST year and see how well you'd fare...

    CLUE #1:    At 8:00a (and no later than 10:00a) you'll begin your great CHASE. For your next clue report to the INFO BOOTH. All ROUTES converge at this place.

    CLUE #2:    Look UP, to the large set of WINGS... Take 7 FLIGHTS and your next clue will be waiting for you behind this symbol (shown above).

    CLUE #3:    This will be no day at the BEACH. If you want that $500 prize, you'll need to DIG in.

    CLUE #4:    !Ay Dios Mio! What do you say we STOP for lunch? Ask Juan for "El ROC Transit Day especial."

    CLUE #5:    Stay focused on the GOAL, or this might make you RAGING mad: Your next clue is waiting under one of 14,000 seats.

    CLUE #6:    Let's do some window shopping at the coolest little VILLAGE in Rochester. While you're there, pick yourself up one of these as a souvenir.

CLUE #7:    Check-in at the top of the HILL... you'll be asked to run one lap around to RESERVe yOIR next clue.

    CLUE #8:    You've searched high, now search low. Head UNDERGROUND and read the writing on the WALL.

CLUE #9:    Thanks for visiting the Rochester subway. But your destination is directly ABOVE YOU.

Last year's winning time was 5 hours 45 minutes, 19.25 miles.

Only difference this year will of course be the clues. $500 1st prize and $200 2nd prize must be split with a charity of your choice. 3rd prize is a pack of tickets to a Rochester Rhinos 2015 home game.
